Raúl Ruidíaz was one of 50 players named to Peru’s provisional Copa America roster. The final roster will likely consist of 23 players.

The Copa America is scheduled to run from June 13-July 10 in Argentina and Colombia. Unlike previous Copa Americas, which consisted of three four-team groups and two of the third-place finishers advance, this year’s edition will consist of two five-team groups that guarantees at least four games for each team. Four teams will then advance to the quarterfinals from each group.
In addition to Copa America, Peru also has a couple World Cup qualifiers scheduled for June 3 and 8.
Combined, Ruidíaz would likely miss at least six weeks. The Sounders play six regular-season matches between June 1 and July 18. He could also potentially miss matches on May 29 (vs. Austin FC) and July 22 (at Austin FC).
Ruidíaz last played for Peru in November during World Cup qualifying, making three appearances. Despite his prolific scoring record at the club level, Ruidíaz has never showed that form for Peru. Ruidíaz has just four goals in more than 40 national team appearances and hasn’t scored for them since 2018.
