The Seattle Sounders ran their unbeaten streak against the San Jose Earthquakes to 14 games and continued the best-ever start in franchise history to move to 4-0-1 on the season. Wednesday’s 1-0 win also keeps the Sounders atop the Supporters’ Shield standings and their 13 points is more than the league’s other two undefeated teams’ combined point total.
The Roldan brothers provided the game’s big highlights. Cristian Roldan scored his first goal of the season — a left-footed shot from the edge of the penalty area — while Alex Roldan was forced into emergency goalkeeper duties and made three saves down the stretch.
