March to the Match returns when RSL visit

ECS will bring back the March for the first time in over a year.

Every week we get a little closer to whatever the new version of normal is going to be. Fans have returned to the stadium, and while we’re still not going to see a full Lumen Field just yet, we are getting another element of the game-day atmosphere back when the Seattle Sounders host Real Salt Lake on Wednesday evening. Emerald City Supporters will be bringing back the March to the Match for the first time since the Sounders played Columbus Crew on March 7 last year.

It really can’t be overstated what a difference having ECS back in the Brougham End has made in terms of the energy in the stadium and on the broadcast. While the stadium capacity continues to climb thanks to high vaccination rates and generally responsible behavior, the return of the March provides a ramping up of that energy and an extension into the areas surrounding Lumen Field. This is one more step towards the game day experience that has made CenturyLink/Lumen Field such an incredible place to enjoy a game and provided the Sounders with a significant home-field advantage. It’s also yet another taste of what we can all have if we continue take the appropriate and necessary steps to overcome this pandemic.

The return of the March couldn’t come at a better time. The Sounders have two home games this week, and taking full points from them would keep the team at the top of the Shield race, to say nothing of helping to erase any ill feelings about the two previous home games. If you want to join the March, make your way to Occidental Square 90 minutes before kick-off and make sure your vocal chords are good and lubricated.
