Santos Laguna has been one of Liga MX’s top teams over the last decade.

The Seattle Sounders path to the Leagues Cup final will include a second Liga MX opponent after Santos Laguna beat Orlando City 1-0 on Thursday. The semifinal match will be played on Sept. 14 at Lumen Field. Tickets will go on sale Friday.

Santos Laguna got their goal from Juan Ferney Otero, who scored in the 30th minute. Orlando had several good opportunities to score but were foiled by a goal-line clearance and some quality saves.

The Sounders are the only MLS team to advance from the quarterfinals. Leon beat Sporting KC 6-1 on Tuesday, while Pumas UNAM beat New York City FC in penalties on Wednesday.

Santos Laguna is off to a 1-0-2 start in Liga MX play and are coming off an 7-5-5 Clausura in which they advanced to the finals of the Tourneo Guardianes where they fell 2-1 on aggregate to Cruz Azul. Interestingly, Leon and Pumas met in the finals of the Apertura tournament.

The Sounders have some experience with Santos Laguna, facing them in both 2012 and 2013 Concacaf Champions League. After getting embarrassed with a 7-3 aggregate goal loss in the 2012 quarterfinals, the Sounders came within an away goal of beating Santos Laguna in the 2013 semifinals.
