Everything seems to be setting up for a potential Broldans matchup in World Cup qualifying. Fresh off becoming the first brothers to both play and start in the MLS All-Star Game on Wednesday comes news that Cristian and Alex Roldan were both selected for their respective national teams. The United States will visit El Salvador in both teams’ opener in the final round of World Cup qualifying on Sept. 2.

Since scoring in his debut for El Salvador at the Concacaf Gold Cup, Roldan has made two starts and four appearances for La Selecta. Those two starts came in El Salvador’s final two matches of the tournament, a narrow 1-0 loss to Mexico and a 3-2 loss to Qatar in the quarterfinals.

After opening against the United States, El Salvador hosts Honduras on Sept. 5 and then visits Canada on Sept. 8.

Roldan will presumably join El Salvador after the Sounders match on Sunday and should be able to rejoin them before their next match on Sept. 11.
