Sounders announce ‘strategic partnership’ with Santos Laguna owners

The two groups will be hosting a vaccine clinic ahead of their Leagues Cup encounter.

The Seattle Sounders have entered into a “strategic partnership” with the group that owns Liga MX team Santos Laguna, the team announced on Thursday.

While details of what all that will entail were not released, their first joint action will be hosting a vaccine clinic and rally at Sea Mar Museum of Chicano/a/Latino/a Culture in the South Park neighborhood of Seattle on Monday from 5-9 PM. The next day the Sounders will host Santos Laguna in the Leagues Cup semifinals.

In addition to providing free Covid-19 vaccines through Sea Mar Health, each person who receives a shot will get two free tickets to Tuesday’s match. All youths attending the event will also receive a free soccer ball and the first 100 people to get the vaccine will get $100 from Sea Mar.

Sounders majority owner Adrian Hanauer and Orlegi Sports Chair Alejandro Irarragorri are scheduled to share more details of the partnership during the event.
