Opposition scouting report: Houston Dynamo
The Seattle Sounders will face the Houston Dynamo for the second time this season after tying them 0-0 in an earlier meeting at Lumen Field. Since then, the Sounders have gone 3-1-2 while the Dynamo are 2-2-2. To help us get all caught up, we reached out to Dustyn Richardson of Bayou City Soccer.
Key players
Ondrej Lingr is the Dynamo’s newest DP and he scored in his first two appearances for the club. Houston’s new front three of Lingr, Ezequiel Ponce, and Jack McGlynn is worth keeping an eye on and will go a long way in deciding how well the Dynamo play.
One thing fans should know
The Dynamo are still very much a work in progress. They lost three key players this offseason and were slow to replace them. They are just now getting Lingr integrated into the squad and we could see the debut of new center back Pablo Ortiz this week.
Team form
The Dynamo still have just two wins this season in MLS play. They’re coming off a 2-0 loss at LAFC where they played well enough but they still seem to be missing some cohesion. Houston’s form is a big ¯\_(ツ)_/¯, at best.
Notable injuries or absences
Franco Escobar will be suspended after picking up a late red card last week. There are still some players out with long-term injuries (Nelson Quinones, Lawrence Ennali, Duane Holmes) but the core of the group is healthy.
Projected lineup
(4-3-3): Bond; Steres, Sviatchenko, Awodesu, Dorsey; Artur, Raines, Bassi; Lingr, Ponce, McGlynn
