Just in case you weren't convinced before, we can now share that in addition to some specials guests, Saturday's "Date With Sounder at Heart" in the basement of Temple Billiards will also include some free tickets to give away for next Tuesday's CCL finale against Monterrey. The main part of the event will take place from 4-5 p.m. and we are asking that you please bring your Sounder at Heart gear (scarves, shirts, whatever). You will need said gear, or at least pledge to buy this year's scarf, to get into that part of the event. If you have guests, that's fine too. Please RSVP either here or on the Facebook page. We will be at Temple until 6:30 when we're planning to head over to the March to the Match where we hope to have a bit of a presence. That of course will be followed by the actual game for which we sold 40 tickets. It looks like we'll be joined by more than 60,000 others.
Their current focus is on EPL Fantasy, but have some coverage of MLS and World Cup Fantasy in the past. Go say hey.
Joining them are David Bulow and Ronnie Pascale of the Richmond Kickers. Bryan Meredith didn't make the cut, but DID receive votes.
I asked U.S. Soccer president Sunil Gulati about Seattle and Portland over the weekend, and he pointed out that the artificial turf fields in both cities present some issues. "We haven't played any qualifiers in quite some time on surfaces where we have to lay down sod, so that makes it a little bit tricky," Gulati said. "Second, when we have double-dates we want to try to minimize travel, and not only travel over the two games but for players coming from Europe. So it's a little bit different during European season than in MLS season. They're both terrific markets. Do I think we'll play there in the next couple of years? The answer is yes. When that is, I couldn't predict."
Gulati to Grant Wahl on why they ignore the Pacific Northwest Umm, here's a news flash, LA requires more travel time than Seattle and Portland (with more limited direct flights though). They've played friendlies on Turf. So sure, he answered, but his answers have been ignored for other host markets. My favorite MLS game of the year! There have been a lot of great moments. But how can we overlook the clutch Houdini-act Rosales and Neagle pulled in this mid-summer classic?
Starts about 15 minutes in or so. Open Cup, Supporters Shield and likely Playoff scenario are the topics. And he calls you minions
Quite a way to spearhead the March to the Match. Looks like they'll need a couple more people to carry the hardware next year.
Here's something I wrote for MLSSoccer.com. Dave and I are going to be filling in on the Sounders beat while Andrew Winner is in Iceland or some other fancy vacation spot.
Still dont quite understand how these are calculated. But it is nice to see a Sounder in the #1 spot.
