Reign Add Defender Michelle Cruz, Re-Sign Frisbie and Noguiera

The Reign make some depth moves as the NWSL hot stove starts to warm up.

The connection between the Seattle Reign and the collegiate Portland Pilots remains strong. Today the team announced that they've signed Michelle Cruz, who graduated from Portland last season but went undrafted, and is most recently playing for the Cypriot team Apollon Limassol (where the Reign's backup keeper Haley Kopmeyer is currently on loan).

With Portland it seems she mainly played as a midfielder, but both Apollon and the Reign have her as a defender, so I'd expect she'd most likely show up at fullback or as depth at holding midfield.

And speaking of Pilots and depth at holding midfield, the team also announced that they've re-signed Amanda Frisbie and Mariah Nogueira. Frisbie was the team's first round draft pick out of Portland last season but she missed the entire season to a chronic injury. Getting her back and healthy lets the team make a significant roster addition without having to make a move.

Nogueira was one of the team's most frequently used subs as a defensive midfielder with bite who could deputize for Keelin Winters or Jess Fishlock or help lock down a lead at the end of matches.
