Kim Little scores two more goals, Reign win sets new NWSL unbeaten run record

After falling behind 1-0, Reign storm back on a couple goals from the league's leading scorer and another from Sydney Leroux.

Momentum is a funny thing. A year ago, it seemed all the breaks went against the Seattle Reign, as they slumped to a bottom-two finish. Now, it's just the opposite.

Entering their match against the Chicago Red Stars riding a 10-match unbeaten streak, the Reign overcame a 1-0 deficit to win 3-1 and are now one win away from doubling last year's total. The win also set a new NWSL record for longest unbeaten streak. Kim Little added a pair of goals to her league-leading total -- both on penalties -- and Sydney Leroux scored her second goal of the season.

It didn't look as though the breaks would go the Reign's way early, though. After going into halftime tied, former Reign player Emily Van Egmond got on the end of a deflected shot and headed it past Hope Solo in the 62nd minute.

But as has been their way, the Reign wasted little time in equalizing. Bev Goebel was tackled from behind in the penalty area just three minutes later. Although Red Stars goalkeeper Karin Le Blanc guessed right and even got a hand on the ball, Little was able to convert the spot kick.

The Reign stormed ahead in the 69th minute when Leroux's shot from outside the penalty area took a fortuitous deflection off a Red Stars defender and found the back of the net. But after struggling to find the back of the net all year, Leroux surely won't care about the finer details of her second goal of the season. Little was awarded her second assist of the season.

Little effectively put the match away in the 77th minute following a penalty Leroux drew after being shoved in the back on a ball into the penalty area. Little now has 11 goals, one fewer than last year's leading scorer Lauren Holiday had in 18 matches.
