Reign Home Opener Announced

The trickle of 2015 season news begins with the announcement of home openers, which include two Seattle Reign games.

The buildup to the 2015 season — the Seattle Reign and NWSL's third season of existence — continues apace this week. We don't yet have season schedules, but today we learn the teams' home openers. Seattle starts off their season at home at Memorial Stadium on April 12th (a Sunday), hosting the Western New York Flash. Then on the 18th they open up the Chicago Red Stars' home schedule at Benedictine University. So we know 1/10th of the World Cup-shortened 20-game schedule.

A relatively quiet offseason should start picking up in the coming weeks. The 2015 Draft, in which the Reign have the 15th and 36th picks, is on Friday. And news of the allocations from the US, Canadian, and Mexican (maybe) federations should drop soon. The biggest questions for the Reign will be how much of their record-setting and NWSL Shield-winning 2014 team they can keep together for another championship run.
