With the first of their two picks (pending trades) in the 2015 NWSL Draft, the Reign selected attacking midfielder Havana Solaun from Florida. Solaun helped lead the Gators to an NCAA quarterfinal appearance and finishes her college career in the top 10 in Florida history in both goals and assists despite missing most of her junior season with an injury.

As a speedy attacking midfielder Solaun could be shortlisted to take over for Naho Kawasumi, who was a huge part of the Reign offense last season and almost certainly won't be returning this year with Japan's World Cup campaign looming.

Solaun was consistently tapped as being about a mid-second rounder in mock drafts and analyst predictions leading up to the draft, and that's right where Seattle picked her. Below is her pre-draft highlight video demonstrating some impressive ball control, which will be important in Laura Harvey's possession-heavy system.
