Hope Solo's husband was reportedly driving USWNT van when he was arrested

New light being shed on USWNT goalkeeper's suspension.

John Rieger-USA TODAY Sports

Hope Solo was suspended 30 days by U.S. Soccer on Wednesday. Now, we know a little bit more about why.

It wasn't just that she was out with her husband, Jerramy Stevens, when he was arrested for DUI, but TMZ is reporting that they were driving the USWNT team van. While U.S. Soccer has not specified the exact incident that led to Solo's suspension, it's not hard to draw a conclusion that Stevens' arrest and Solo's behavior were directly connected to it.

Solo's response to the suspension seemed to suggest there was a bit more to this than simply being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Solo's suspension will force her to miss a pair of USWNT friendlies and could very well affect her status for this summer's World Cup. As of now, the Seattle Reign have issued their own statement suggesting they don't intend to take any further action against Solo. Their season doesn't start until April, though, so there's not as much of a pressing issue.
