The full-season NWSL schedule was (finally!) released today, so we can start making plans around the 2015 Reign season.
The preseason schedule includes games against Seattle U on March 13, University of Portland on March 28, and UW on April 3.
We already knew that the home opener was on April 12th hosting the Flash, and that the Reign would then go on the road to open Chicago's home schedule on the 18th. Then they finish out the month with a replay of the NWSL final against Kansas City on the road.
Thanks to the break for the World Cup and a big gap in May the team will only play a couple of league games in a stretch of nearly six weeks. After a May 9 away game they play just twice more (both at home) before the league schedule picks back up again in late June with a trip to Boston.
They'll help fill that time with a pretty impressive friendly. On May 22 they'll host the Chinese national team in their final tuneup match before the World Cup.
Games against somewhat-local rivals Portland Thorns will always be highlights on the schedule. Due to the Cup-shortened season Seattle will only play them twice, and it will be in quick succession. Portland will host Seattle on Wednesday July 22 and the teams will travel up I-5 for the return leg just 4 days later on the 26th.
The schedule has also avoided any collisions with Sounders home matches on the same day. The closest the two come to playing at home at the same time is the May 30-31 weekend, when they play on consecutive days. Which isn't so much a problem as the makings of a great weekend.
