Reign Trio Called Back into USWNT Camp

The short break after winning the Algarve Cup is over, and national team duty begins again for the Reign's three US internationals.

Surprising nobody, Jill Ellis' roster for the upcoming national team camp and New Zealand friendly includes all three of the Reign's USWNT regulars: Hope Solo, Megan Rapinoe, and Sydney Leroux. The camp and friendly will take the players away for two weeks, from March 23rd through the friendly in Carson, California on April 4th. That will give the national team players one week of preseason with the club before the NWSL season kicks off on April 12th.

Solo and Rapinoe have been with the Reign for at least some of this week, so have had a chance to spend time with Laura Harvey and their teammates. Leroux has spent the short time between national team duties with new husband Dom Dwyer.

Unlike Jurgen Klinsmann's run-up to the 2014 World Cup, Ellis seems to have less than zero interest in doing any experimenting, so the rosters for all of the friendlies and camps heading into the summer Women's World Cup seems set in stone, barring injuries. In fact, as Abby Wambach has demonstrated, you don't even have to have a club team to continue to be part of the national team picture if you're already in the fold.

After the New Zealand match, the next USWNT action will be three friendlies through the month of May, which will likely see the national teamers away for two or three matches.
