Reign vs UW Friendly Gamethread

The team's second and final preseason game kicks off tonight at Memorial Stadium, where the newly added Amber Brooks should have a chance to show off her skills in a new-look Reign midfield.

Tonight the Reign play their final preseason match before the 2015 season kicks off. They'll be at Memorial Stadium hosting the University of Washington, who are opening their spring schedule. If you want to watch in person, tickets are free, but you still need to get them (via the Reign site). Otherwise you may have to rely on Twitter play-by-play. There hasn't been any word on whether the team will be broadcasting over Periscope (as they did in Portland and for the kit reveal).

This is the first match of the post-Leroux era, though the national team forward had been away with the US for the entire preseason anyway, so there won't be much change from the roster that handily beat the University of Portland last week 5-0. Amber Brooks, who was acquired from Western New York for Leroux and Amanda Frisbie, is in town with the team and should be expected to get some minutes tonight. That should give us some indication of what Laura Harvey plans to do with the excessive number of starting quality defensive and box to box midfielders on the team. She has hinted that a diamond might be in the works, and a reduction from three to two strict attacking players would reduce the pressure to find a replacement for Leroux.

Regardless, expect a little more Kim Little magic and expect a dominating performance over an out-of-season college team to break in Memorial for the new season.
