This week the NWSL announced that it has asked FIFA for — and been granted — an adjustment of its upcoming international transfer window, which had previously been scheduled for July 4th to August 3rd, but has been moved forward to June 15th (which is today) to July 14th. That means that teams can sign new internationals immediately and play them in this weekend's games.
The most notable of these players is Amandine Henry, who has already arrived in Portland and is now eligible to play in the Thorns' Friday match in Western New York. That the league might shift its rules to benefit just Portland is a bit galling, but we should expect the Reign to be active as well. They've already announced the signing of Rumi Utsugi, though there's no word on whether she's able to join the team any sooner as a result of the shift. The Reign also have another international spot available and we'd expect them to use it during this window.
