The 2017 NWSL College Draft takes place today at 12:00 p.m. PT in Los Angeles, and more than 180 players are available for selection by Seattle Reign FC and their NWSL opponents.
Seattle currently has the 6th, 26th, and 37th picks, and will likely use these spots to build depth for the future. They could use additional talent at forward and in center midfield and outside back. Earlier this week, we speculated on which players Laura Harvey might select. Today, we get to see if any of those predictions come true.
There’s also the very real possibility that Laura Harvey could negotiate a trade that would allow her to maneuver positions in the draft, or snag a player from another team. And the NWSL loves to throw in a rule change or two right before the draft to make things exciting.
Teams have 5 minutes to make their pick in the first round. That drops to 3 minutes per pick in Rounds 2 through 4.
