Jess Fishlock honored as Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire

The Welsh star adds yet another award to her trophy cabinet

Seattle Reign FC and Wales national team midfielder Jess Fishlock was honored today with appointment as a Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (MBE). She received her MBE for services to football, as well as services to the LGBT community.

Fishlock attended a ceremony at Buckingham Palace, where she received the honor from Prince Charles. She was noted for her accomplishment of being the first player to reach 100 caps with the Wales national team, and for her steadfast campaigning for LGBT acceptance and the need for a more welcoming and supportive environment.

Fishlock, who is currently on loan to Olympique Lyonnais, is expected to return to Seattle upon completion of Lyon’s UEFA Champions League campaign in late May.
