Tuesday was the roster freeze date for NWSL teams, at which time all contracts became guaranteed and no additional roster moves are permitted.
As part of this process, Seattle Reign FC announced today that two injured players, Yael Averbuch and Kiersten Dallstream, have been moved to the season-ending injury list and will not return to play in the 2018 season.
Averbuch made one appearance for Reign FC, playing the full 90 minutes in Seattle’s mid-April defeat to the North Carolina Courage. As documented on her blog, Averbuch has been dealing with the challenges of an ulcerative colitis flareup.
Dallstream had three appearances this season for just over 160 minutes of play, making a substitute appearance and two starts. After being on the injury report for the past two months with a knee sprain, the club announced that she had surgery earlier this week to repair the medial meniscus in her right knee.
With these moves, Reign FC has 21 players on their active roster for the remainder of the 2018 season. Starting today, teams can also begin re-signing players and exercise options for the 2019 season.
