2020 NWSL Challenge Cup - Day 8

OL Reign take on the Chicago Red Stars in the NWSL Challenge Cup quarterfinals. The match kicks off Saturday, July 18 at 7 PM PT. The game will stream on CBS All Access for U.S. and Canadian viewers and will be available on Twitch for international fans.

After both earned minutes in their previous match, Jess Fishlock and Sofia Huerta have moved off the injury report. Huerta was the primary playmaker against the Thorns and got better as she settled into the game, while Fishlock could be the midfield spark the team needs to break down opponents. Meanwhile, Alana Cook and Kristen McNabb were rested and are both likely starters.

Both Chicago and OL Reign have struggled to score this tournament, and they both enter the game with stingy defenses. These are two fairly similar sides at the moment. However, with Friday’s quarterfinal matches as examples, anything could happen in the knockout rounds.

Keys to the Match

  • Watch the runs from Chicago’s fullbacks
  • Win the 50/50 balls
  • Use the width on offense
