A goalkeeper who has played in the French league is coming to OL Reign. It might not be the one you’re thinking of, though.

Phallon Tullis-Joyce is coming home. The New York native, who attended college at the University of Miami, is returning to the United States this summer after signing a contract with OL Reign. She currently plays for Stade de Reims in France.

The club announced the move on Thursday morning, bringing the goalkeeper count to four. Tullis-Joyce joins Karen Bardsley, Ella Dederick and Cosette Morché on the OL Reign goalkeeper chart. Tullis-Joyce will join OL Reign when the Division 1 Féminine season concludes, around the same time Bardsley’s loan ends.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed. However, the contract is for 1.5 years, running through the 2022 season. Tullis-Joyce has spent the last two seasons in the Division 1 Féminine, appearing in 34 games to date for Stade de Reims, after a collegiate career as a starter for the Miami Hurricanes.

OL Reign head coach Farid Benstiti said that the Reign have been “closely following” Tullis-Joyce and her development in France.

“While still a young keeper, Phallon brings big experience playing against some of the top clubs in the world, including OL and PSG,” Benstiti said, via a team release. “We see her potential and are excited to add her to the squad.”

Tullis-Joyce said that France has “been an incredible chapter” of her career.

“I am extremely excited and very grateful for the opportunity to begin a new journey with OL Reign this season,” she said. “OL Reign is making waves with their environmental efforts while grinding for the NWSL title and I cannot wait to be a part of the team and dedicate my best ability to this inspiring program with their remarkable fanbase.”

OL Reign begins the 2021 NWSL Challenge Cup campaign next Friday, April 16, when the team hosts the Houston Dash at 10 PM ET/7 PM PT on Paramount+. Tickets are available now.
