For the first time in quite a while, an international window is approaching where most teams are in action. Six OL Reign players will be involved with their national teams in the upcoming window, each representing a different country.
UEFA’s qualification tournament for the 2023 World Cup begins next week, with both Jess Fishlock and Dzsenifer Marozsan called in to represent their countries. Fishlock’s Wales will face Kazakhstan at home on Sept. 17 and travels to Estonia on Sept. 21. Marozsan and Germany have a pair of home matches, the first against Bulgaria on Sept. 18 and the second against Serbia on Sept. 21. Neither Sarah Bouhaddi nor Eugenie Le Sommer were called in for France’s games in this window.
Angelina will join Brazil for a pair of friendlies against Argentina. The first will take place in João Pessoa on Sept. 18 and the second in Campina Grande on Sept. 21. Jimena López and Mexico have one game scheduled against Colombia at Estadio Azteca on Sept. 21. Costa Rica has two games scheduled against Panama during this window, and long-time Costa Rica captain Shirley Cruz has once again been called in to represent Las Ticas.
Finally, the USWNT will play two games against Paraguay as part of their post-Olympics tour. The first will be on Sept. 16 in Cleveland and the second on Sept. 21 in Cincinnati. Rose Lavelle will join the team for these games, but Megan Rapinoe remains sidelined by the leg injury which has kept her out of the past two OL Reign matches. Rapinoe is expected to be recovered in time for the Reign’s next game, on Sept. 26 against Orlando.
OL Reign has no games scheduled during the international break, so no players are expected to miss any club games due to these call-ups.
