The 'Caps are playing in the Pacific Coast Soccer League (PCSL), which is Premier Women’s soccer for Canada. They have been facing older teams, and winning. They even won the Metro Women’s Soccer League Cup this past March. In July, this team will be traveling to Sweden to play in the Gothia Cup tournament.
For this one match, the ‘Caps will also be joined by former Whitecap standouts Natalie Boyd, Kirsteen Buchan, Kelly Cook and Jaclyn Sawicki. They will also have the former Canadian women’s national team goalkeeper and current Whitecaps FC Girls Elite goalkeeper coach Taryn Swiatek minding the net for them. Obviously they would like to stay on top of this Cascadia Rivalry. The Sounders Women will likely have other plans.
In this match, the Sounders Women will finally have their Huskies. They will finally start looking familiar to those that followed them last year. Our strikers, Busque and Elston are gonna be busy wreaking havoc on the back lines of the opposing teams. They will continue to push the Sounders back line into the attacking half. This, my fine friends, is going to be a fun season. Once the team has a chance to gel, I think even the Pali Blues will find the Sounders Women ready to challenge for the League Title.
Game time is 7:30, at Starfire. Tickets are available online at SoundersWomen.com or at the gate. The game will once again be live streamed on USL-live.com.
