The Sounders Women are coming off a 4-2 victory over the LA Strikers last Monday. It was a hard fought game, with the Sounders scoring twice in the waning minutes to save the 3 points. The young Colorado Rush opened their season with a loss to the Colorado Rapids 2-3. This team is made up mostly of young players coming from the Rush soccer academy. They were able to hold their own against the Rapids though, so don't expect the Sounders to just roll over them. Look for Danica Evans to lead the Rush in shots. She scored both goals last week. Mid fielders Gabby Miranda and Morgan Stanton, along with Forward Rebecca Rasmussen also like to pull the trigger. This is a team that has played together for years through their time in the academy. Their keeper, Bethany Kanten had five saves out of eight shots on goal by the Rapids. She'll be busy again tonight.
The Sounders Women have had another week to practice together. Look for Melissa Busque and Lindsay Elston to continue gelling. Those two will be causing plenty of nightmares for back lines this season. Allie Beahan, Isabel Farrell, Sarah Campbell and Marta Mathews will be getting into the fun as well. There is no shortage of scoring power on this team. Even defender, Annie Sittauer, scored in the game on Monday. With such a short turn around, we may see a slightly different lineup, but the depth of the Sounders allows for that without a loss of quality.
The game will be streamed on USL Live here. The gates will open at 4:30. As usual, parking is $5.00 per car, and with the double header, it may get a little crowded (let's hope).
