Reign vs Breakers Game Thread: Behold the Stream Paywall

Seattle kicks off the second half of its season with a first trip to Boston to face Sydney Leroux.

USA TODAY Sports

The Breakers organization has certainly got this whole Interwebs thing figured out. By (uniquely in the league) putting their live game streams behind a paywall they've ensured that they get substantially less visibility and coverage while also making a pittance in streaming fees that might add up to the salary of one player. Congrats. Oh, and way to go full Ticketmaster by advertising a $4.99 price and then jamming a $1 'fee' on at the end for giggles.

If you'd also like to use your latte money on watching the Reign stream, you can do so right here.

Today marks the start of the second half of the season, and schedule wise it's a much easier half than the first. The Breakers are another team at the bottom half of the table and this match will be followed by two home games against bottom-half teams.

The team is also in much better position talent-wise. Hope Solo and Megan Rapinoe are both fully integrated into the team and so far it looks like Kennya Cordner is the most dynamic and dangerous forward the team has been able to field this season.

A road game on the East Coast on short rest is a tough ask, so we shouldn't be expecting domination. But this is a fully healthy Reign squad with nearly its full complement of allocated players. This is the team that we were supposed to see. So we should expect them to be competitive and have a shot at their first win of the season.
