MLS: U.S. Open Cup Champions-Seattle Sounders Parade Stephen Brashear-USA TODAY Sports

It’s been less than a week since the Seattle Sounders won MLS Cup, but plenty has been going on. On Tuesday, they held their celebratory parade minus most of the team’s key players. Before the cheers had even died down, we were getting news of players who planned to return and those who didn’t. By Saturday, the Sounders had publicized their list of players they’ll protect and expose in Tuesday’s Expansion Draft.

Jeremiah, Miki and Ari all essentially agreed that this year’s parade lacked some of the oomph of the 2016 version, but also explain why that was. Although this was recorded before the protected lists came out, they were able to make some pretty reasonable guesses about who they thought would be available. Unfortunately, the Sounders won’t be able to avoid some painful departures.
