It is a move that seems like it may never happen, but today a major step occurred when the Seattle Sounders FC released an statement about Fredy Montero being loaned to Millonarios for 2013.
"We are finalizing the loan of Fredy Montero to Millonarios of Colombia for the 2013 MLS season. We hope to have this transaction completed in the next few days. Fredy has been a tremendous part of our success the last four years and this decision was not taken lightly. This was a process that Fredy and the Sounders cooperated on, and our hope is that it works out successfully for both parties."
That release comes basically moments before Millonarios is revealing Montero to their fans.
Fredy Montero just arrived from Miami to Bogotá.Presentation will be done in a few minutes.

Arango also tweeted out reports out of Colombia that there was an issue between Fredy and Sigi, and that Fredy didn't want to play in the withdrawn role he's held for the vast majority of his time in Seattle.
In judging this deal the details matter quite a bit. The DP slot will be opened, but will there be Allocation Money or a change in Montero's contract (he revealed that it was through 2014)? How those questions are answered and who is brought in will influence whether this decision worked for the Sounders. How Fredy plays back in his homeland will determine if it worked for him.
