Christoph Metzelder is not going to be moving on Deadline Day, but the lack of agreement between he and Schalke 04 is an indication that he will be moving on at the end of the season. In an interview with a Frankfurt newspaper picked up by FutbolMLS.com Metzelder indicates that he is trying to decide a contract with an MLS side or the club where his storied career started.
The German centerback spent time with Borussia Dortmund, Real Madrid and Schalke 04. He also had 47 CAPs for nis national team and was involved in two World Cups (finishing 2nd and 3rd). At 32 is in the twilight of his career, which should be obvious with his consideration of an amateur side, but is made more clear due to his zero starts in Bundesliga play this season. Metzelder did start two DFB-Pokal (cup competition) and one Champions League match in the Fall.
Previously connected to the Seattle Sounders the player does not specify the MLS side, but the Frankurter news paper indicates that the Rave Green are in play. The paper notes that Seattle needs help in defense. It does not note the Sounders' connections to German soccer.
