Report: DC, Chivas USA and Galaxy pursuing Eddie Johnson

While interest from DC United is not new, having one of MLS' great deal breakers write about it with some specificity is.

Joe Nicholson-USA TODAY Sports

There are a few great voices when it comes to MLS rumors - Wahl, Ives and Steve Goff. Goff today is reporting that D.C. United is actively pursing Seattle Sounders FC forward Eddie Johnson. He adds that both Southern California teams are also after EJ.

The Los Angeles Galaxy and at least one other MLS club, believed to be Chivas USA, are also aggressively pursuing Johnson. A resolution is possible in the coming days, according to sources familiar with the talks.

These new rumors come out as yesterday Goff tweeted that there was a foreign club involved in the pursuit of Seattle's leading scorer of the past two seasons.

Others in the past indicated that Philly and Sporting KC were in on Johnson. During the season a club in Spain and one in Mexico were linked to mid-season moves for the United States player.

With the addition of Kenny Cooper yesterday EJ is now surplus. Seattle currently has positional holes in a starting midfield role and the preferred left back style Sigi wants. Allocation money is more likely than players to solve those issues.

Multiple suitors should help Adrian Hanauer & Co get the best price possible for a player that is obviously switching clubs.
