Report: Obafemi Martins looking for eight-match loan

Rizespor wanted him on a full transfer and rejected the short term deal.

It would seem that transfer news does not stop for holidays. Today, we learn from Turkish press (via loyal reader Mike Standish) that Rizespor wants Obafemi Martins on a full season deal (likely a transfer) not the eight-match loan he is trying to get. The automated translation is imperfect, but you get a fair idea.

Obafemi Martins noted that it's a very important player Çalımbay said the following:

"Martins in the United States is playing. Transfer talks 8 for the match came to say the 8-game players what I could use. It did not agree. Himself a different bid regarding this job were rejected. 8 to match the footballer is not transferred. Us in the long term will contribute I need players. Martins I'd like to have a player like permanent staff. "

This means a couple things for Seattle Sounders FC fans. Oba and his agent are shopping him about, but the talks seem to focus on Sounders friendly terms. Eight matches in the Turkish league would be up in mid-March and Oba would get more than two months of rest as that league takes most of January off.

If Oba gets what he wants the Rave Green would be without his services during the World Cup, but not for the vast majority of the season.
