Report: Fredy Montero pursued by Besiktas

Europa League qualifier Beşiktaş JK from the Turkish Super Lig recently changed management and one of their targets to improve their offense is Seattle Sounders loanee Fredy Montero according to a report out of Turkey. Besiktas' Director of Football is in South America looking at other players from the region, but one target is the "new Falcao."

Önder Özen, appointed to the football directorate early last week, went to Colombia accordingly. It was learned that Özen met with the manager of the striker, Fredy Montero, who is lauded as Milionarios' (located in the Colombian capital city of Bogota) ‘new Falcao.'

Beşiktaş finished third in league play with 58 points and enters the Europa League in the Third Qualifying Round (same level as Tottenham). As Turkey's third most titled club and with Europa entry the Adidas sponsored club likely has the money to make the rumored 4+ Million Dollar buyout negotiated when the Seattle Sounders FC loaned Montero to Millonarios.

Montero scored his fifth goal (a PK making him tied for 15th in the Primera) of the league season in Sunday's match, but did not score in the Copa Libertadores. The Colombian forward signed an extension with Seattle just prior to his loan to Millonarios for the 2013 MLS season.
