A player with a dozen years of a experience in Spain is being pursued by Seattle Sounders FC according to radioreports in Spain. David Navarro played with Valencia, Mallorca and most recently Levante, but is now a free. At 33 years old he is on the down side of his career, but could have a couple years left on a career that has time in Champions League, Europa League and La Liga.
@bedirthan Anytime. A good signing, 33-year-old CB with Europa experience & a history of aggression, means he'll be happy with non-DP salary
— Tom Conn (@TomConnISF) June 20, 2013
Conn was the first to report the rumor in English via Twitter.
The Sounders do have an international slot free though they are tight on cap space. A midseason signing does hit a cap at half value so they may be able to slot the Spaniard in, but it leads to questions about the status of Hurtado and Ianni who are also in a similar price point.
Navarro is most known for his participation in an on and off pitch brawl when he broke an opponents nose and was then attacked in the locker room. He was suspended for six months after the events. That was back in 2007.
The transfer window opens on July 9th and Seattle will be the third or fourth most connected MLS side. LA and New York will get all the glamour rumors while Toronto and Seattle will have rumors spurred by agents who recognize that both have money too.
