Fredy Montero's transfer to Sporting Lisbon could be completed this weekend, agent says

Fredy Montero's rumored transfer to Sporting Lisbon could be completed as early as this weekend, the player's agent told Mais Futebol. The report suggests the transfer price is about €3 million, which would convert to about $3.87 million.

"We are moving forward and I am very optimistic we will close the agreement quickly," Montero's agent Helmuth Wennin is quoted as saying. "I hope to have good news on the weekend."

If all goes well, Montero could join the team as early as next week. An earlier report suggested he was scheduled to undergo a physical following his final game with Millonarios on Thursday. As it turned out, Montero scored his third goal in two games in what may be his final appearance in Colombia.

It's still not entirely clear how much allocation money the Sounders would receive if the rumored fee is accurate. Determining exact allocation figures is purposefully difficult, as the league feels as though obscuring that information has strategic benefits. If the Sounders do accept a transfer fee for Montero, they would forfeit the right of first refusal if he were to ever return to MLS.
