It would appear that we can stop hyper-ventilating about the immediate future of Obafemi Martins. At least according to his Instagram account -- the place where Sounders fans can get all their latest "Where in the world is Obafemi" updates -- the Seattle Sounders forward is back in his Bellevue home.
Assuming the accompanying text with the picture is accurate, this is good news for a team that is surely hoping to have as close to full roster as possible when training camp officially opens on Saturday. Sounders GM Adrian Hanauer also told Nos Audietis that he was under the impression Martins was returning to the Pacific Northwest on Sunday, which gives more reason to believe what this image is telling us.
As it is, the Sounders will already be without Clint Dempsey, Brad Evans and DeAndre Yedlin. Dempsey is, of course, on loan to Fulham and is likely to miss the entire preseason. Evans and Yedlin are currently with the United States national team and won't join the Sounders until after the friendly against South Korea on Feb. 1.
There had been some concern that Martins would miss some of training camp as well, as he was widely rumored to be either seeking a transfer or a loan during much of the past couple months. But when asked about Martins last week, Sounders head coach Sigi Schmid said there was no reason to think the forward would not be in camp.
