Andy Rose inks deal with Coventry City

The free transfer is for 18 months, as Coventry looks to climb into the Championship.

Just when you thought that Andy Rose might stay a Seattle Sounders midfielder, news comes out that Coventry City signed the 25-year-old. Today, Coventry announced that they and Rose reached agreement on an 18-month deal that will start in January of 2016. That means that at 27 Rose will again be a Free.

Rose will be a depth midfielder for them, focusing on more defensive duties than he did during his time with Seattle. The signing comes after a two-week trial where Manager Tony Mowbray found Rose to be physically fit, decent passer and a sponge for tactical information.

We had Andy over for a trial and during that time, he impressed me with his athleticism and the attributes he brings to the position. - Mowbray to CCFC.co.uk

Seattle is now left with only three central midfielders on the roster - Alonso, Friberg and Roldan. With 22 players under contract they have between five and seven spots to fill in total.

Coventry City took only 3 points in their last 4 played, plummeting down the League One table to fourth place. Rose may get his chance earlier rather than later.
