Chad Barrett tweets his farewell to Seattle

Looks like the MLS veteran won't be returning to the Sounders in 2016

Anne-Marie Sorvin-USA TODAY Sports

Chad Barrett, among the players to have contract options declined last week by the Seattle Sounders, tweeted a goodbye to the city and fans today.

Barrett is something of an MLS journeyman, having played for four other clubs prior to arriving in Seattle in 2014. The forward scored 12 goals in 44 appearances for the Sounders, including his memorable late equalizer against Los Angeles Galaxy near the end of this season.

Despite his status as something of a benchwarmer for Seattle, Barrett always worked his socks off for the club and came to their rescue on more than one occasion. The aforementioned goal against the Galaxy came after Barrett had been initially left out of the matchday squad, only to be called away from his meal in the press box to join the team after an injury in the warmups.
