Cristian Ledesma rumor resurfaces

Sounders again linked with Lazio veteran, but it doesn't seem to make much sense.

As Seattle Sounders fans hopefully grasp at anything resembling a viable transfer rumor, some life seems to have been breathed into one that never seemed particularly likely in the first place.

As you may remember, the Sounders were one of about 10 teams loosely linked to Lazio's Cristian Ledesma a couple of weeks ago. Now, the Sounders are just one of three teams supposedly in the running for the 32-year-old box-to-box midfielder, with newly promoted Premier League club Watford and Sporting Kansas City being the others.

On the surface, this doesn't seem all that likely. Ledesma is coming off an injury-marred season in which he only played in 16 games across all competitions and was limited to seven Serie A starts. He's also not exactly the kind of player the Sounders seem to be need, not really a scorer and not really a playmaker, either.

Sounders GM Garth Lagerwey hasn't indicated that any signing is imminent, but he was very clear about feeling as though the team could use a goal-scorer. Ladesma does not seem to fit that bill.
