Seattle Sounders "chasing down a couple of other things" in Transfer Window

Coach Sigi Schmid tells Sports Radio KJR that the club is looking at more additions besides Erik Friberg.

Speaking to Sportsradio KJR, Seattle Sounders Coach Sigi Schmid reviewed the Clint Dempsey U.S. Open Cup incident, Stefan Frei's health, the extraordinary performance by the United States Women and how active the club will be in the Transfer Window that opens on July 8th.

Dave "Softy" Mahler backed into the quote asking about new signing Erik Friberg, but the more forward looking information came after the review of what the Swede will offer the team.

We're still looking at something else - nothing we can announce right now. But we're definitely chasing down a couple of other things.

Mahler had to pull a bit harder to go beyond that first nugget.

I missed the guy three times on the phone. We kept playing phone tag. If I can get the guy and help put it all together and until we put it together I can't really say anything.

Mahler: What area code?

It's a foreign area code. You got to go zero-one-one first.

Sounders have a roster spot open for as long as Andres Correa is on the Disabled List, but would have to make a move when that is over. And Sigi did say "couple of other things" so the team would need to be active via trade to make space for their expected activity. New in 2015 is that all trades in MLS must happen during a transfer window. The Core Player rule still has not been announced by MLS, but would mean that Sounders have a DP slot open.

If you listen to the whole thing you will hear from Schmid about Dempsey, Friberg, the Three Star Team USA and if Sigi would want to coach the U.S. Men.

"I would have loved to, but I think my time has passed."
