A long time ago, in MLS Sounders time, the club purchased African Lyon, advertised to tour to Tanzania and worked to improve water in the East African nation. Many of those efforts seemed to fade away in the past six years, until today with rumor that a 21-year-old defender and 31-year-old keeper will be on trial with Seattle Sounders.
Defender Hassan Isihaka and goalkeeper Rostand Youthe have different paths to their trial. Isihaka will be heading this way shortly while the Sounders are Youthe’s backup plan.
"Isihaka is one of our best defenders, but we may not have his services in the second round of the league. He will be flying to the US where he will attend trials before signing a contract. The deal is part of our partnership with the Sounders, so I hope that he will have a playing stint there," said Kangezi. He said Isihaka would fly to Seattle early next week.
Isihaka is of the age that play for Sounders 2 would make sense. He does not have much national team experience with just three or four appearances for Tanzania. Youthe has a single appearance for Cameroon, and is at an age that would not make him a likely S2 prospect.
African Lyon is 10th in Tanzania at this time, but have the 6th best defense.
