With their first game just days away, Sounders FC 2 needed to submit their eligible players to USL. That list includes three players signed directly to the USL roster though not yet announced by the club and eight Academy players that will be playing up in the near future. The Academy kids will be able to maintain their NCAA eligibility while playing for the USL team.
Also listed on that USL roster are the seven previously announced USL players and eight players from the MLS Seattle Sounders roster. That list is clearly incomplete as Mansaray and Anderson are not listed, but will almost certainly play minutes in the USL this year.
Direct Signings to USL
The former Oregon State and Lane United keeper spent some time with the Sounders 1st team during preseason. He is the 4th keeper in the organization and will probably be a backup for S2 games.
S2 snagged him away from T2. Fisher was at right back there, but hardly played. He had 4 starts for 316 minutes played there. Prior to being a Timber Devon was a regular starter at Virginia Commenwealth.
Mark Nkongho O'Ojong
O'Ojong is listed as a midfielder. He comes out of Cameroon where he was with Rainbow FC. That club has sent a few players to MLS and USL sides in the past few years. He's one of the rare teenagers on S2 and is 19.
Rainbow FC says that Tolo also signed with the Sounders, but he is not listed on the USL Soccer roster. The 22-year-old may still be waiting for paperwork before he officially joins the team.
Academy Players Playing Up
Barry came to the Sounders Academy by way of PAC NW. He is a tall lanky forward who plays as a goal-facing #9.
Bwana is a winger and UW commit who Coach Clark refers to as having Darlington Nagbe type skills. Handwalla has four goals in the current Academy season. Bwana had 11 minutes with S2 in 2015.
One of the transplants who moved from Florida to join the Sounders Academy and play for S2. Hinds is a speedy left back who also can play CB at times. He has a few USYNT calls to his name, including the U20s back in January. Hinds had 44 minutes with S2 in 2015. Nick is an Akron commit.
The former right back out of Florida is now a ball-controlling centerback. Tobi has three goals in the Academy season. Tobi will play for the University of Denver in 2017.
Kurtz is the type of player that will play where ever he is told to play. He made the bench a few times in 2015. He has three goals with the Academy this season. Harrison will be at Clemson in 2017.
Ramos is in his second year of playing for both the U18s and S2. Last year with S2 he earned 382 minutes in the midfield, mostly as a box-to-box midfielder.
Kei has a few USYNT training calls. Still just with the U16s the Japan-born Tomozowa has three goals with the Academy. He has a verbal commit to Stanford.
