Sounders acquire more Targeted Allocation Money, sign rookie center back

Sounders trade for TAM and an international spot with TFC, giving up General Allocation Money. Also add Tony Alfaro while confirming Damion Lowe's departure.

Tony Alfaro becomes the newest draft pick to sign with the First Team being announced today. Alfaro was a 2nd round pick out of Cal State Dominguez Hills and will replace loaned CBs, Jimmy Ockford and Damion Lowe, on the 1st team roster. The strong CB played in the shadow of the LA Galaxy for four seasons and is ready to jump into the spotlight for the Sounders.

With Roberto Chen unsigned, Jimmy Ockford loaned out, and Damion Lowe's season long loan to Minnesota United confirmed today, Tony Alfaro is only behind non-starter Zach Scott on the depth chart and should take command of the back line for S2. Unlike Ockford's loan, Lowe's timeline was confirmed today as he'll be with Minnesota United for the whole season as they play their final season in the NASL.

At the same time as all of this, the Sounders traded General Allocation Money to Toronto FC for Targeted Allocation Money and an international roster spot making the likelihood of a primary window DP signing all the more likely.
