When Nicolas Lodeiro moved to Seattle Sounders in 2016, he said it was mostly a decision about family. At just about every turn, he spoke mostly about wanting to raise his kids here.
Not quite two years in, he seems happy with that decision. He’s so happy, in fact, that he keeps trying to convince good friend Luis Suarez to join him. We’ve written about this pursuit before and it appears it’s still ongoing.
"...All the time he’s asking me about the league, and of course I tell him all the great things & try my best to motivate him to come."

Before we go getting too worked up -- either positively or negatively — about a potential Suarez move, it should be noted that the 30-year-old does not look like he’s about to be going anywhere. Not only is he in the midst of another solid campaign, having scored 13 goals in 16 La Liga appearances with Barcelona, but he’s also signed through 2021 and would likely require a healthy transfer fee. Transfermarkt pegs his value at about $80 million.
The possibly more pressing thing this illustrates is that Lodeiro doesn’t really sound like a player who’s angling for a return to South America, despite rather rampant Twitter buzz about him wanting to return to Boca Juniors and their front office being open to that. Lodeiro seems very content here and seems more than happy to spread the word.
