Another name has surfaced as the Seattle Sounders continue to pursue another summer signing. The Sounders are reportedly pursuing a loan for 23-year-old Argentinian forward Nicolás Stefanelli, according to Swedish website Fotbol Direkt. Stefanelli is currently playing for AIK Selna, of the Swedish first division.
While Stefanelli does seem like an interesting prospect — he’s got 12 goals and five assists in about 1,800 minutes over parts of two seasons —and has some interesting physical attributes, he doesn’t quite fit the profile of the type of player the Sounders are likely pursuing. Stefanelli is primarily a forward, having logged just two appearances as a wide player in 34 appearances. He’s also a bit undersized for a forward — he’s listed at about 5-feet, 5 inches — and seems sort of like a poor man’s Raúl Ruidíaz.
That said, the Sounders have some pretty well established scouting networks in Scandinavia and his price seems to be within TAM range.
