UW/Stanford, NCAA Third Round Game Thread

More Sounder on Sounder violence today as the cinderella Stanford Cardinal travel to face the flip-throwing juggernaut University of Washington.

The NCAA soccer championship tournament moves on to the round of 16 today, with plenty of Sounders still involved. Last week the feature match was the UW versus Seattle U, which the Huskies won in a blowout in front of a sellout crowd of 3500 (despite some drama thanks to a couple of late Redhawks goals). This week, the feature match will pit Washington against Stanford at 5pm at Husky Soccer Stadium. This one might not be quite as packed — as there were plenty of Seattle U fans at last week's match — so there's still a chance to go watch as many as eight Academy alums take the field in one match.

Elsewhere in the bracket, Sean Okoli and Wake Forest travel to face the mighty Notre Dame at 4pm. A win there would certainly be an upset — especially on the road — and a loss might be Okoli's last college match, as there've been hints that Okoli is intending to leave after his Junior season, either to the Sounders as an HGP or elsewhere as a pro.
