Darwin Jones scoring at will for UW men's soccer team

Sounders Academy alum is tied for the Pac-12 lead with seven goals.

With all the attention surrounding DeAndre Yedlin and Jordan Morris and the dual signings of Sean Okoli and Aaron Kovar, it's sometimes easy to overlook another potential Seattle Sounders Homegrown Player: Darwin Jones.

With the way Jones is playing these days, though, that's getting much harder. The University of Washington senior is off to a blazing start for the No. 5 Huskies, scoring seven goals and notching four assists in their first nine games. His latest impressive performance came on Thursday night in a 3-2 win over Cal in which Jones scored two goals, including a 25-yard free kick that was a first-half equalizer (video above). Jones managed to bend the shot around the wall and somehow squeeze it inside the near post.

His second goal came in the 56th minute when he took a through ball from fellow Sounders Academy alum Ian Lange. The Huskies' final goal also had a Sounders influence, with Henry Wingo picking up the assist.
