Most of the announcements at the Sounders FC Alliance End of Year Business Meeting lack details. With the addition of a new team and the expanded influence of fans in the club's future the Business Meeting was the opportunity to announce a major change to the make-up of the USL PRO Board of Governors. One member of the Sounders Community Trust will serve on the league's board.
"Based on Sounders FC's history of embracing and empowering the role of their supporters in key aspects of the club, it is no surprise that S2 would take the groundbreaking step of a taking a leader from within the Sounders Community Trust and having them play a very direct and active role in its executive decision-making process," said USL PRO President Tim Holt via press release. "We look forward to this individual's input and contributions at the league level."
The Board of Governors "on a regular basis to discuss and decide key strategic and policy decisions" about the league. Each of the 22 teams currently announced for the 2015 season will have two representatives on the Board. For S2 that will be GM Andrew Opatkiewicz and the fan from the Community Trust.
Other announcements at the Business Meeting included the new Clubhouse for Sounders FC, Levesque formally joining the organization as a Director of Community Outreach, a 32% increase in TV ratings over 2013 and many things which will be detailed after the Playoffs conclude.
