Victory Mansaray is one of 20 called into the United States U18 team for the 21st International Tournament of Vaclav Jezek from Aug. 14-24. Thirteen of the players are from MLS Academies (there is also one from Tottenham). A notable non-MLS Academy player is a certain Jonathon Klinsmann.
Mansaray was 9th in his age group with 18 goals scored in 24 USSDA matches. He also already has four minutes of Reserves play. For the past several weeks he's been training with the Seattle Sounders FC.
After Monday's practice with the First Team he told Sounder at Heart that he needs to work on a couple things in order for his dream of being a future pro to come true. Foremost would be developing his left foot, but there are also things like improving his reading of the game to continue learning how to be a pro soccer player.
Mansaray also spoke to his ability to learn from the great attackers on the team, such as Dempsey, Martins and Pappa. They are helping him develop. Next year he will be on the Sounders Academy U18 roster. He had recently earned four minutes of time with the Sounders Reserves against Galaxy II.
