In the sloppiest of Seattle Sounders 2's early season matches, S2 earned their winner in the 88th minute. Giuliano Frano's winning goal from a late run changed a game that looked destined for the tie. Pablo Rossi scored Seattle's opener when he slammed in a penalty that Andy Craven earned.
Harrison Delridge scored Portland Timbers 2's only goal.
In the first half S2 found the chances but not the net. Craven, Aaron Long and Darwin Jones all found themselves in scoring positions but did not finish. Seattle struggled to maintain possession against a T2 side that offered more pressure.
The defense on set-pieces left Delridge open a few times. His goal was the most open of those. S2 defense also struggled to prevent long stretches of possession. That possession would not have purpose. Despite
The second half changed things for S2. The attack flowed better with T2 forced to take down Craven rather than let him break free. Just after the half started cowardly Portland took him down. Pablo Rossi slammed the penalty home.
Craven continued to cause trouble through his speed and strength, but it was a beautiful scoop pass that won the night. Frano's finish earned Seattle three points and Portland their first loss. Check out his run that starts at just goal-side from the centerline.
New signing Olex Anderson earned his first minutes with S2 as did U18 player Lorenzo Ramos.
For the first time in 2015 S2 didn't score four goals. They are now 3-0-0 +7.
