S2 signs Brazilian attacking midfielder

Sergio Mota Mello has been bouncing around Brazilian leagues since 2007.

S2 continues to bolster their still rather thin dedicated roster, officially adding 25-year-old Brazilian attacking midfielder Sergio Mota Mello on Friday. Sergio, as he's known, will be eligible to play immediately and brings S2's roster to 11, not counting academy players or players on loan for the MLS club.

"Sérgio gives us the ability to adjust our style of play when needed, and control the tempo of a game," S2 General Manager Andrew Opatkiewicz said in a team release. "He has experience at a high level in Brazil - he makes the players around him better, and he has the potential to develop into a Sounders FC First Team player."

Sergio comes to S2 with nine years of professional experience, dating back to his time with Brazilian top flight side Sao Paulo in 2007. Sergio made 11 first-team appearances for the most successful club in Brazil's club history over four seasons -- including championship campaigns in 2007 and 2008 -- but has been a bit of a nomad since leaving in 2010. S2 will be Sergio's eighth club and he has now switched clubs nine times since 2010. As recently as April, Sergio was playing for Penapolense, a club that competes in the top flight of Sao Paulo's regional league (Campeonata Paulista) and had been in Brazil's fourth division in 2014.

Still, the video above suggests he has some attacking flair and will give S2 another potent weapon.
